'For gong and piano' was made as a communication between the two instruments. As a respond to the gong-part, which initiates the piece, the piano plays the 'same' - the overtones of the gong - but in the way that the piano can, which means without quarter notes and odd noises. The gong-part takes over the lowest note of this chord, the piano responds and so on. Because of the differences of the gongs, I have used - some that I have brought home from Vietnam - the responds keeps changing.
Musicians: Toke Odin, gongs and piano. Recorded by Toke Odin in Blågårds Kirke, Nørrebro, Copenhagen and in Oticon Salen, Lyngby, Copenhagen, 2007.
